Justified By Faith

October 27, 2019

Topic: Faith Scripture: Romans 3:10–31

"What must I do to be saved?"  Justification by faith is a simple doctrine, but for all its simplicty, it is a difficult doctrine for us to understand.  God offers salvation freely to all who believe in Jesus Christ; however, we seem to want to earn our salvation.  Maybe we think that there's some sort of catch--after all, as the saying goes, there's no such thing as a free lunch.

But salvation is free, it is a gift of God's grace.  We do not save ourselves--we cannot save ourselves, without Christ we are dead in our sins.  We shouldn't think that we can find a way to save ourselves, and we certainly shouldn't pat ourselves on the back if we manage to do something that we think will save ourselves.  Let us stop looking for things to do to be saved, and let us start looking to Jesus.
