Rev. Carel Geleynse

Pastor - Pastoral Care

Carel Geleynse graduated from Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1981 and was ordained as a minister in the Christian Reformed Church in October of that year. He has been a pastor in four congregations (Port Perry ON, Charlottetown PEI, Flamborough ON and Chilliwack BC) and has spent a year (2002 – 2003) in Haiti with his family, where he and his wife Irene, taught at Quisqueya Christian School in Port-au-Prince. Carel joined the staff at Community CRC as Pastor/Director of Pastoral Care in January 2011.

Carel and Irene have been blessed with two sons and two daughters, all of whom are now grown.



Rev. John C. Medendorp

Pastor - Preaching and Worship

John Medendorp graduated from Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, MI in May 2014, and was declared a candidate for ministry in the Christian Reformed Church in June of that year. He grew up on the mission field in the Dominican Republic, where his parents served with Christian Reformed World Missions from 1991-2001. He has also lived in the Netherlands, Texas, and Michigan. Before his role at Community CRC, John volunteered as a spiritual care provider and Spanish language interpreter at a health clinic in Grand Rapids, and served as a summer intern at Bethel CRC in Listowel, ON.



Rev. Amanda Bakale

Pastor - Faith Formation

Amanda Bakale graduated from Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2010. Amanda also completed a Masters of Counseling and Spiritual Care from Waterloo Lutheran Seminary in Waterloo, Ontario in 2011. After serving as an interim pastor in Wingham, Ontario, Amanda served at World Renew (formerly CRWRC) in Burlington, Ontario before accepting the call to join Community Christian Reformed Church as Pastor – Faith Formation in 2015.

Amanda and her husband, Brian Bork, campus minister at Wilfrid Laurier and University of Waterloo, are expanding their family with the birth of their first child in November 2015.

When you contact Community Church, whether by E-mail, telephone, or a visit during the week, chances are that the first person you run into is Donna. She’s the person who will cheerfully answer your questions, and does a million behind-the-scenes things that keeps Community Church’s administration flowing smoothly.

Together with his wife, Kor sees that the facilities are clean and presentable.
