The King Stopped for One

November 24, 2019

Scripture: Mark 10:46–52

The rich, famous, and powerful of this world are difficult to approach, with their bodyguards and crowd control barriers.  Jesus, on the other hand, was remarkably easy to get close to, as Bartimaeus found out.  Despite the efforts of the crowd to silence Bartimaeus, Jesus stopped his journey to Jerusalem, approached Bartimaeus, and healed him.

Jesus is still remarkably easy to approach, and forever will be; he is in the business of reaching out and showing mercy to those who call out to him.  He is also in the business of tearing down the barriers that the world sets up to exclude people, and he calls his followers to do the same.
