As many sports fans know, cheering on your favourite team is better when you're with a group of your fellow fans than when you're alone. There's an interesting parallel here between sports and faith--worshipping the Lord is also better when you're with a group of your fellow believers than when you're alone.
Communal worship is important to the life of the disciples of Jesus Christ. It gives us a sense of identity--as children of God, we are also part of God's family, and we should want to be with our brothers and sisters in Christ. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we can also help each other in times of need or grief.
