Scripture: Micah 4:1–5

Repeatedly in the Old Testament, God commanded the people of Israel to help the poor, the downtrodden, and the foreigners in their midst. In this passage, God (through the prophet Micah) also assured them that he will provide for them in abundance.
This command, and this promise, are for us as well as for the ancient Israelites. We often worry about scarcity in this world, and these fears can tempt us to grab whatever we can for ourselves and ignore the needs of others. Let us remember that our God is a God of abundance; his grace is sufficient for us, and for the people he calls us to serve.
