Surprised by Scripture
This year, in our high-school youth group program, we are spending the year looking at the Bible—what it is, why it matters, why it’s so weird. As part of this, the students are studying difficult texts and themes from throughout Scripture and wrestling with how to interpret and apply these
more difficult sections of the Bible to our lives of faith. To go along with Impact’s focus on the Bible, we are doing a short, 4-week series in November on surprising and challenging stories from Scripture, including a story from Exodus where God tries to kill Moses right after sending him to Egypt, a story from Acts where God strikes down a couple for lying about how much they donated to the church, a story from Kings about one of God’s prophets summoning two bears to attack over 40 children, and a story from Revelation about Jesus leading an army to destroy the kingdoms of the world. Should be fun!
(NOTE: Due to technical difficulties, the November 18 sermons were not recorded.)
