Join us as we celebrate and marvel at an event unlike any other in the Bible. The transfiguration of Jesus, though it does echo and develop what happened earlier to Jesus during his baptism at the beginning of his ministry, is packed with a signficance that is almost impossible to over-estimate. Whether the event portrays Jesus as the culmination of the Old Testament (i.e., the appearances of Moses--representing the Law--and Elijah--representing the Prophets) or speaks to Jesus the Messiah assuming the role of Israel in reconciling heaven and earth, God and humanity or presages the glory that Jesus will assume as the enthroned King of a new creation (i.e., in Revelation) it is hard to fully appreciate what the transfiguration means. Join us as the world's Messiah comes into his own before the astounded eyes of Peter, James and John.
